Guangzhou Live - Hyundai Verna Facelift for China

China specific facelift, and a different version is India-bound.

Apart from unveiling the next-generation of the Hyundai Sonata, the Korean car maker also exhibited the China-spec Verna facelift at the ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show 2014. Easily distinguishable from the versions that are sold elsewhere (including India), the car went on sale in China earlier this year.

Up front, the sedan gets a dual-slat chrome grille, new headlamps and a bumper. The sides are marked by a flowing roofline and a stance that's not too high off the ground, while at the rear, it is very similar to the Verna sold internationally.

The cabin isn't any different either. Powering the China-spec Hyundai Verna are two petrol engines - a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre unit. While a manual gearbox is a standard fitment, one can also opt for the 4-speed automatic that Hyundai offers on the car.

While the car continues to garner sales in India, the impact by the presence of the new Honda City and the Maruti Ciaz is visible. Hyundai is likely to launch the Verna facelift in India early next year, and has already started road tests of it.

Meanwhile, the updated version of the Verna hatchback (based on the current international design) was showcased at the LA Auto Show. Sold as Accent in the United States, the car is priced at $14,745 onwards.
