Will break cover in 2018.

An IAB reader has managed to snap the BMW X7 testing in the manufacturer's hometown of Munich, Germany, featuring the usual full body camouflage and temporary fitments. It is confirmed to break cover in 2018, and could start going on sale from early 2019 worldwide.

Expect prices to start from EUR 75,000, and go north of EUR 100,000 for the range-topping version.

The X7 will be BMW's biggest, most luxurious and a true 7-seat SUV, taking on the Range Rover, and top-end variants of the Mercedes GLS. It's claimed to have trim levels and options that can even give the Range Rover SVAutobiography a run for its money, so expect prices to start from EUR 75,000, and go north of EUR 100,000 for the range-topping version in Europe.

The X7 will be based on a stretched version of the company's CLAR RWD platform, and could feature Carbon Core (CFRP in body construction) to reduce kerb weight while improving structural rigidity. Engine lineup is likely to be borrowed from the BMW 7 Series, which includes a range of 3.0L inline-6 petrol and diesel engines (BMW X7 40i and BMW X7 30d), 4.4L V8 twin turbo petrol (BMW X7 50i), and a plug-in hybrid variant combining a 2.0L turbo petrol engine with eDrive electric motor (BMW X7 40e). All variants will feature an 8-speed automatic gearbox, xDrive AWD system and an air suspension system as standard.

The BMW X7's luxury quotient could match the 7 Series (pictured), or even surpass that.

Expect the BMW X7 to arrive in India in 2019. It's unclear if BMW India will assemble the X7 like it does with the some variants of the BMW 7 Series, or import it as a CBU.
