India Kawasaki Motors has commenced the pre-bookings for the litre-class sports tourer. The motorcycle will be assembled at Kawasaki’s plant in Pune, and thus we expect to see aggressive pricing on the model. Interested customers can book one at Kawasaki dealerships across India for a token of INR 1.50 lakh. That said, the final price of the bike is yet to be announced. The deliveries, as reported earlier this month, will commence post-April 2019. Pre-bookings are open from 16 November until 31 December 2018.

The Versys 1000 will compete against the likes of Ducati Multistrada range and the Triumph Tiger series in the Indian market.

In the press release shared by the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director, India Kawasaki Motors said:

The locally assembled Versys 1000 certainly gives us the advantage to sell the bike at a very attractive price, but most importantly, we are happy to create more buying opportunities for our highly enthusiastic customers... In recent times, we have received a good number of enquiries from customers, and therefore we again expect good success with the new Versys 1000.

The upcoming Kawasaki Versys 1000 will be available in the standard variant and will be offered in a single candy steel furnace orange colour option. Features list includes twin LED headlamps and new instrumentation with a full digital LCD screen. The motorcycle benefits from Kawasaki’s Sugomi design philosophy and draws cues from the supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2. Being a sports tourer, the Versys 1000 will offer an upright riding position, comfortable seats and an adjustable, tall windscreen.

A 1,043cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four engine, tuned to deliver a maximum power of 120 bhp and peak torque of 102 Nm, would perform the propelling tasks. The motor will come mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine will also benefit from Electronic Throttle Valves (ETV).
