The 390 Adventure is developed ground-up with an all-new steel trellis frame, which provides a low saddle height. That said, the ADV motorcycle will share parts like swingarm, switchgear, LCD instrument panel and suspension with the KTM 390 Duke. The company will tune the suspension to aid during off-road riding and long-distance touring.
The KTM 390 Adventure will share its engine with the 390 Duke. The motor will get a different state of tune to provide better low-end and mid-range power. The 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, fuel injected engine produces 43.5 bhp of power and 37 Nm of peak torque on the 390 Duke, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. KTM could use a bigger rear sprocket or change the gear ratios to suit the touring/ off-road capabilities of the ADV.
While the bike is likely to share its suspension components with the KTM 390 Duke, the setup on the upcoming 390 Adventure will get long suspension travel at both the ends. The front forks on the 390 Adventure will get a spindle offset for the front axle, which is slightly off-centre to negate trail created by the larger wheels. Speaking of which, the ADV will feature wire-spoke wheels with a 19/17-inch front and rear setup that will pair with dual-purpose road-biased tires.
