India-bound Volkswagen Passat - Geneva Motor Show Live

Set for Indian launch this year.

The 2015 Volkswagen Passat is being showcased at the Geneva Motor Show 2016. After its premiere in Berlin in July 2014, deliveries of the D-segment sedan began in Europe in November of the same year.

Measuring 4,767 mm in length, 1,832 mm in width and 1,456 mm in height, the 2015 VW Passat is 2 mm shorter, 12 mm wider and 6 mm lower than its previous generation model. The wheelbase is stretched by 79 mm to 2,791 mm. Overall, the weight of the premium saloon was reduced by 85 kg, thanks to the high-strength and hot-formed steel and aluminium in the construction.

The European Passat is offered with a lineup of 10 powertrains, with peak power outputs ranging from 120 PS to 280 PS. For the first time ever, a new plug-in hybrid GTE variant of the VW Passat was also introduced, which manages a jaw-dropping fuel efficiency figure of 50 km/l.

The new VW Passat (B8) is expected to be launched in India later this year. The GTE variant of the car was displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo.
