Indian Motorcycles has announced a leasing program as well. The American manufacturer has joined hands with ORIX leasing company through which it will offer luxury bikes to enthusiasts on lease. The FTR 1200 can be leased for three years at INR 39,999 per month.

Speaking about the launch of the FTR 1200 range, Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director and Country Head, Polaris India, said:

We continually seek to broaden Indian Motorcycle’s reach to a wider range of riders, and FTR represents a significant step forward in that strategy. With the launch of the FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica, we now have a styling motorcycle which has a DNA of flat track racing and is designed for the street.

In terms of performance, the FTR 1200 draws power from a BS-IV 1,203 cc V-Twin cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that generates 123 hp of peak power and 120 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is claimed to pack a better low-end punch and flexibility. The rider can select from three riding modes – Sport, Standard and Rain – each altering the throttle response, traction control intervention levels, lean-angle sensitive stability control, ABS and wheelie control. The motorcycle uses a chain final drive.

Other key features of the FTR series includes full LED lighting, 4.3-inch customisable Ride Command LCD touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, USB port with fast-charge capabilities and cruise control. The touchscreen display can be operated even with the gloves on.

Inspired by the FTR 750 race bike, the FTR 1200 uses a trellis frame and features sporty ergonomics. Steering duties are performed by ProTaper flat tracker aluminium handlebars. The fuel tank is located under the seat for a lower centre of gravity, while the airbox is positioned above the motor for optimised airflow. The premium feature list on the FTR 1200 includes inverted front forks and radially mounted dual Brembo brakes. The swingarm and rear suspension are similar to those of the FR 750 race bike. The motorcycle rides on Dunlop street tyres with flat-track-inspired tread.
