IAB Report - Isuzu India begins customer showcases for the D-Max dual-cab pickup
Isuzu India launched the D-Max range of pickup trucks last month. The D-Max series comes in three variants - single cab flat deck, space cab flat deck and space cab arched deck. While the latter is supposed to appeal to self-driven lifestyle-conscious customers, the flat decks are for the commercial goods carrying market.
In a bid to increase its presence in the lifestyle segment, Isuzu is considering launching the dual-cab version of the D-Max in India. Speaking to Indian Autos Blog this week, the company's Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Shigeru Wakabayashi, said that a few units of the dual-cab D-Max were imported into the country for test marketing and customer showcases. He said that the dual-cab variant was being shown to dealers and were used by select customers to gauge the response of the product.
If the response is positive, Isuzu will add this variant to their D-Max lineup he said. The engine specifications though will remain unchanged as the dual-cab variant will also be powered by the four-cylinder 2,499 cc diesel engine producing 134 hp and 294 Nm of torque.
If launched, the dual-cab will be priced above the arched deck space cab which costs INR 7.09 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai. The dual-cab D-Max will compete mainly with the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway.
