Jaguar F-Pace - 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Live

First-ever crossover from Jaguar, returns 24.55 km/l.

JLR has taken the wraps off the most anticipated Jaguar for 2015 - the Jaguar F-Pace. It is the company's first ever crossover that is expected to package the superior on-road dynamics of a Jaguar in a bigger package.

The exterior design of the Jaguar F-Pace is largely identical to the Jaguar C-X17 concept. It gets optional LED headlamps flanking Jaguar's characteristic mesh grille, large air intakes and sleek LED taillamps similar tot the Jaguar F-Type. The Jaguar F-Pace is based on an all new iQ aluminum intensive platform, which also underpins the Jaguar XE and 2016 Jaguar XF, and keeps the weight light for better handling.

Unlike the Range Rover cousins, Jaguar's F-Pace will focus more on performance rather than off-road capability. It will use the chassis tech from Jaguar’s F-Type sports car, including features like a torque vectoring system, and a feedback-rich EPS (electronic power steering).

The Jaguar F-Pace will be built in Solihull, England, and exported to global markets from 2016. An Indian launch is likely to happen, which could be sold as a niche product and compete against the Mercedes GLE, BMW X6 and Porsche Macan.

The F-Pace crossover is powered by the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine, which is said by the company to have achieved 24.55 km/l (57.7 mpg) and CO2 emissions of just 129 g/km.
