LA Live - Jaguar F-Type R Coupe

Jaguar today unveiled the coupe version of the F-Type at the LA Auto Show, a few hours after it world premiered at the Tokyo Motor show. A new range-topping model was also announced and is designated the F-Type R.

Powered by a 5.0-liter V8 that produces 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque, the F-Type R has an electronically limited top-speed of 186 mph (297.6 km/h). The R can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) from 0 in 4.0 seconds flat.

Meanwhile, the F-Type and F-Type S models continue to be powered by a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 outputting 340 PS and 380 PS respectively. The F-Type S can hit the 60 mph mark in 4.8 seconds and the F-Type can get to that speed in 5.1 seconds, with top-speeds of 171 mph (273 km/h) and 161 mph (257 km/h) respectively.

The F-Type R gets an all-new carbon ceramic matrix braking system, which when coupled with a torque vectoring by braking unit, provides optimum handling. All three variants get an eight-speed Quickshift transmission with full manual sequential control via steering-mounted paddles or the central SportShift level.

All Coupe versions get a body side that is made from a single piece of aluminium pressing which Jaguar claims is the most extreme cold-formed aluminium body side in the automotive industry.
