India will have to wait for the Jaguar I-PACE until a proper ecosystem for EVs is in place, says JLR's Rohit Suri.

According to a new report from The Economic Times, JLR will not launch the Jaguar I-PACE in India. The development was confirmed by Rohit Suri, MD and President, Jaguar Land Rover India, who said that India would have to wait for this model until it is ready with a proper ecosystem for EVs. Besides, the charging infrastructure, elements like incentives offered by the government, as well as the suppliers, services and manufacturers of EV components also shaped the decision.

The Jaguar I-PACE Concept's striking design and proportions make it very efficient aerodynamically. The concept SUV has a drag coefficient of just 0.29 Cd. It has a 500 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which helps the electric motors at the front and rear axle to generate a combined output of 400 PS and 700 Nm of torque. 80% charging takes just 90 minutes using 50 kW DC charging. Jaguar claims a driving range of more than 500 km (NEDC cycle) and a 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) acceleration time of around 4 seconds.
