Jaguar XE's Indian launch to take place at Auto Expo 2016 - Report
Likely to be priced above the competition.
Post the launch of the Land Rover Discovery Sport in India in August 2015, JLR India will introduce the Jaguar XE sedan at the Auto Expo in February 2016, reports Autocar India.
The XE had its public premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014, though sales in Europe are yet to start. In fact, production of the sedan is yet to start at JLR's Solihull facility, though details on its engine and gearbox options have been revealed by the company.
The volume seller for India is expected to be the XE powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine capable of 161 bhp. While Jaguar will offer the XE with a 6-speed manual in international markets, expect only an 8-speed automatic on the Indian model.
The report also mentions that the XE in India will be feature packed and hence is likely to be priced a shade over the competition. According to one report, Jaguar will indeed assemble the XE at its Pune plant from next year, though initial units could be imported through the CBU (Completely Built up Unit) route.
