Paris Live - Jaguar XE (India-bound)

All-new baby Jag takes the fight to the BMW 3 Series.

Following its reveal last month, the Jaguar XE is seen for the first time in public at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Based on an all-new lightweight aluminium platform called iQ, the XE also sees the debut of the new Ingenium engine family.

The sedan will be available with four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, and a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, the latter being borrowed from the F-Type. Jaguar have revealed that the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine will be available in power states of 163 PS (160.7 bhp) with 380 Nm, and 180 PS (177.4 bhp) with 430 Nm of torque.

The lesser powerful 163 PS diesel engine is announced to emit 99 g/km of CO2 while delivering an efficiency of 26.55 km/l in the EU tests.

Underneath, Jaguar say they have ditched the traditional McPherson front suspension for a double wishbone configuration, and the rear sees an Integral Link setup instead of a Multilink suspension system. The suspension setup, and a new electric power steering unit will give the XE class-leading dynamics, according to the company.

The XE is expected to launch in India sometime next year, shortly after the new C Class is launched.
