Jawa deliveries to start from fourth week of March, confirms Anupam Thareja

Last month, Jawa Motorcycles’ Twitter handle confirmed that the deliveries of the Classic and Forty-Two would commence in March. However, the brand did not mention a specific timeline. In recent updates, Anupam Thareja, Co-Founder, Classic Legends stated on his Twitter account that the deliveries of Jawa Motorcycles would start from the fourth week of March.

Thareja said in his tweet:

The moment of truth is here for #JawaMotorcycles. We were audacious and planned a 100 showrooms nationwide before starting delivery - that's being done in record time by March 3rd week. Fourth week onwards, we will start delivery across the country as per the booking queue!

Classic Legends have been aggressively expanding their dealership network and the outlets have commenced operations in many states in the country.

Classic Legends launched the Jawa Classic and Jawa Forty-Two in the Indian market in November 2019 at ex-showroom Delhi prices of INR 1,64,000 and INR 1,55,000 respectively. The two-wheeler brand later announced the rear-disc / dual-channel ABS variants of the Jawa Classic and Jawa Forty-Two, priced at INR 1,72,942 and INR 1,63,942 respectively – all prices mentioned above are ex-showroom Delhi. The Jawa Classic and Forty-Two draw power from a 293cc, DOHC liquid-cooled motor that puts out 27 bhp and 28 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with a six-speed transmission.

The motorcycles received a positive response in the country. The two-wheeler brand closed its online bookings in December. The Jawa Classic and Forty-Two are sold out until September this year and waiting period has shot up to six months. One of the states that have reported outstanding response is Kerala and Jawa motorcycles could unseat the region’s largest selling two-wheeler brand, Royal Enfield.

Meanwhile, Royal Enfield has been suffering from negative growth since the comeback of Jawa Motorcycles in November last year. The Chennai based brand has reported negative sales numbers for four consecutive months (November 2018 to February 2019) as the growth pace is slowest in more than 12 years. The sales were also affected due to the price increase that was a result of increased insurance cost and mandatory addition of ABS to comply with the upcoming new safety norms.
