Jeep 551 (C-SUV) spied testing yet again
India will manufacture the C-SUV for domestic and export markets.
The Jeep 551 (Jeep C-SUV) has been spied testing again, courtesy Autos Segredos. The new Jeep will be unveiled at FCA’s new Pernambuco assembly plant in Brazil in late-September, and its production will commence simultaneously.
The Jeep 551 will be the second generation model of either the Jeep Compass or the Jeep Patriot. Production of both these models will end in December this year. The North American-spec Jeep 551 will enter production on January 30, 2017 in Toluca, Mexico.
One of the plants confirmed to make the right-hand drive version of the Jeep 551 is the Tata-Fiat JV plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, where production will commence in 2017.

The Jeep 551 will be based on the Fiat 500X and the Jeep Renegade's small-wide front-wheel drive platform. According to the Brazilian publication, the South American-spec version will be offered with a 2.0-litre Tigershark flex-fuel (petrol-ethanol) engine that produces 159 cv (159 hp) at 6,200 rpm running on petrol and 164 cv (164 hp) at 6,000 rpm running on ethanol, as well as a 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine. The latter will be mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
