The Jeep Grand Commander (name TBC) has reappeared in spy images from China, courtesy BitAuto. The Jeep 7-seat SUV is currently undergoing testing in China and the USA.

The Jeep Grand Commander is the alleged production version of the Jeep Yuntu concept.

The Jeep Grand Commander is the alleged production version of the Jeep Yuntu concept that debuted at Auto Shanghai 2017. The latest spy shots give a close look at the Jeep Grand Commander’s front fascia, which consists of sleek headlamps and 7-slot grille with its top gently swept back like on the Jeep Yuntu concept and even the 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep Grand Commander is expected to ride on a car-like unibody platform. While the Jeep Yuntu concept was a plug-in hybrid, its production version is expected to use a petrol engine at launch. Reports suggest that the Grand Commander will borrow the 2018 Wrangler’s all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 270 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The SUV may use the redesigned Wrangler’s 8-speed automatic transmission as well. At a later stage, Jeep may introduce a plug-in hybrid option, possibly with the Chrysler Pacifica’s powertrain.

A 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is expected to power the Grand Commander.
