The low sales of the TVS Apache RR310 could be attributed to the fact that the potential buyers waited for the updated model. Regular readers would know that the updated TVS Apache RR310, with an assist/slipper clutch, was launched in India on 27 May. Meanwhile, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 has been delivering positive results since the launch of the heavily localised model. Check out the sales performance of the two models for the last six months:

One of the reasons behind the lacklustre sales of the TVS Apache RR310 in the past has been the refinement issues. However, TVS Motor Company has addressed the problem by updating the hardware on the 2019 Apache RR310. As reported earlier, the 2019 TVS Apache RR310 comes with updated chain roller, fatter bar-end weight and additional rubber padding for the visor – all of which are aimed at reducing the vibrations and noise from the motorcycle. TVS has also updated the ECU with new software. All the changes listed above were given to the existing owners as a complimentary upgrade. As mentioned above, the updated Apache RR310 was launched towards the end of May. We expect to see improved numbers in June.

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 witnessed positive sales post the price reduction that was achieved with heavy localisation. The Kawasaki Ninja 300, post localisation of various components, was introduced at a price tag of INR 2.98 lakh*. In comparison, the CKD model was sold at INR 3.60 lakh*. Do note that the CKD model did not receive ABS while the heavily localised variant comes with dual-channel ABS as standard. Apart from the lower ex-showroom price, Kawasaki also announced a steep cut for the spares, which made the Ninja 300 more appealing.
