Puts out 120 bhp and 120 Nm of torque.

As we had reported back in November 2014, Kawasaki had started taking bookings for their new Versys 1000 motorcycle that was showcased at the 2014 INTERMOT Show. Now the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has launched the motorcycle for INR 12.90 Lakh (Ex-showroom Pune).

The 2015 model year of the Versys comes with a newly designed fairing.

The 2015 Versys 1000 gets a complete restyling as compared to the outgoing model. There is a new fairing unit that now houses twin headlights and boosts the motorcycle’s aerodynamic capabilities as well as it offers better wind protection. The suspensions have been worked on too, now providing longer travel. The Kawasaki Versys 1000 comes standard with key technical features such as the much famed 3-way KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control) and Switchable ABS.

While internationally the Kawasaki Versys 1000 comes equipped with mono-key bags (top box), hand guards, center stand and tank pad as standard, these would be available for the Indian market as optional extras. Kawasaki would be importing and selling these parts as separate accessories. The first to be available would be the side pannier kits, with the foglamps, tank bags and mono bag to follow. As of now, prices for the accessories have not been announced.

Customers of the Versys in India will have many accessories to look forward to.

The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is powered by the same 1043 cc engine that also powers the Ninja 1000 and the Z1000, in a slightly different state of tune. The in-line, four cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that is tuned more for smooth power delivery, produces 120 bhp and 120 Nm of torque and is paired to a six speed gearbox. For braking, the machine employs 310 mm dual discs up front and a single 250 mm disc at the rear, combined with ABS as standard.
