Kia sub-4 metre SUV spied, to be launched in 2020
Kia is developing a sub-4 metre SUV for India, and this Maruti Vitara Brezza rival has been spied on test in India. This is the same model which some media websites had mistakenly reported as the next-gen Hyundai i20 Active last week.
The Kia sub-4 metre SUV will be a mechanical twin of the Hyundai Venue. However, save for its shape and proportions, its design will likely be entirely different. For instance, at the rear, the spy shot (above) shows rectangular tail lamps (with L-shaped LED light guide) instead of squarish tail lamps. As for the front-end, the signature Tigernose grille is a given.
The Kia sub-4 metre SUV may not have the same level of global significance as the Hyundai Venue. That’s because most other markets have got the Kia Stonic.
Kia may sell its Hyundai Venue rival with a 120 PS 1.0L T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine, a 115 PS 1.5L MPI naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 115 PS 1.5L CRDi turbocharged diesel engine. A 6-speed manual transmission should be standard and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is likely to be offered with the turbocharged petrol engine.

Kia is said to hold the world premiere of its sub-4 metre SUV at Auto Expo 2020. Expect the model shown at the biennial motorshow to be a near-production concept. The final version will likely premiere closer to the market launch, which should take place in the second half of the year. The company will start the last year of the decade in our market with the launch of the Carnival.
