Kia will reportedly enter India by the end of this decade.

Overdrive reader, Sudharsan Selvaraj, has spotted the Kia Venga testing in Chennai. It could be part of the Korean manufacturer's first wave of products to launch in India before the end of the decade, though the current Venga is due for a replacement.

The Kia Venga could've been brought to India to test the components and platform in Indian conditions.

Don't expect the Kia Venga to arrive anytime this year, as reports suggest that Kia will establish its operation in 2019, after which we can see products bearing the oval badge. The Kia Venga could've been brought to India to test the components and platform in Indian conditions.

In other markets, the Kia Venga is available with a 1.4-liter MPi petrol engine developing 90 PS and 140 Nm of torque and a 1.6-liter MPi developing 125 PS and 159 Nm of torque. On the diesel front, it offers 1.4- and 1.6-liter diesel engines developing 77 PS/245 Nm and 128 PS/265 Nm respectively. Transmission options include 5- and 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.

The Venga and Hyundai ix20 are sister products, sharing platforms, components and engines.

The Kia Venga, if launched, could establish a new mini MPV segment in India that slots between compact 7-seater MPVs and premium hatchbacks. It could appeal to customers looking for a spacious interior in a vehicle smaller than MPVs such as Maruti Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy.
