Report - India-made KTM 390 Adventure getting ready for 2015 launch
KTM's Duke platform would not stop with streetfighter and fully faired motorcycles but would also spawn Adventure tourer (all-terrain) variants.
Motorbeam.com reports that work on the Adventure variant based on the KTM Duke 390 has commenced and the product would be ready for launch sometime in 2015. Given that the Duke 390 and RC390 have Bajaj's Chakan plant as their production base, the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure would also be made here.
The upcoming tourer will share several components including the powertrain with its naked and fully faired kinfolks. While the Duke 390 and the RC390 are meant for use on tarmac, the 390 Adventure would be more rugged to feel at home during off-road applications.
The adventure tourer would have a beefed up suspension system with longer travel and all-terrain ensemble including specialized tyres, knuckle guards, a visor, mounts for luggage boxes, etc.
The 373.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine is expected to continue without any change since it offers an impressive 42.9 bhp and 35 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The KTM 390 Adventure is expected to be retailed at a premium compared to the Duke 390 and RC390 but it will still be the most affordable tourer in India. With no comparable rivals in its price range, the KTM tourer could create a new lucrative segment for others to follow.
KTM is getting ready to launch the RC twins in India in the festive season.
