Production KTM 790 Adventure spotted for the first time
The KTM 790 Adventure borrows the powertrain from KTM 790 prototype showcased at EICMA 2016.
Moving away from the single pot 690, KTM has decided to target the middleweight territory with a twin-cylinder 790. The first product in this family will be a street naked showcased in prototype form at the EICMA 2016. The bike will also be made into an Adventure tourer for the year 2019, and the first spy images of the KTM 790 Adventure have been posted by MCN.
The spy shot reveals that the KTM 790 Adventure is not a soft-roader but a mini 1090 Adventure with emphasis on affordability. The output of the parallel twin has been kept a secret, but we expected it to hover around 110 PS.
Just like the KTM 790 Duke which launches next year, the 790 Adventure will get ride by wire, traction control and riding modes. The test unit is suspended over fully adjustable WP setup in the front and an adjustable mono shock in the rear. The front bears a 21-inch wheel which will be a boon for crossing obstacles while the rear seems to be an-18 inch specification.
A more sedate road going version of the bike with smaller rim size and alloy wheels could also be on cards.
