KTM 250 Duke was spotted doing a test overseas, suggesting an imminent launch. The test mule revealed some important details of the upcoming model. While the new KTM 250 250 Duke is still almost one year away, the existing KTM Duke 250 which was introduced last year are considered a decent option in the market. Compared to the older generation, the existing KTM Duke 250 2021 saw some substantial updates in terms of styling and mechanicals.

For a long time, the 250 Duke was known as a more affordable alternative for the 390 Duke due to its similar design language. With the latest updates, the 250 Duke keeps the butch look from its previous generations. However, there are some new additions that spice up the design of the 250 Duke a bit. It now comes with full-LED headlights. Moreover, KTM also introduced new colour schemes to keep the design fresh. All in all, the current 250 Duke looks substantially meaner and sharper than before.

On the 2020 KMT 250 Duke, there is a full-LED instrument cluster that displays all the key information like distance-to-empty, speed, fuel consumption. Both taillight and turn indicators are LED units. It also gets dual-channel ABS.

The existing KTM 250 Duke gets some updates to meet the emission norms. For example, the motor now uses an additional catalytic converter to expel the smoke. The good news is that the single-cylinder 248.8cc liquid-cooled DOHC motor has not shown sign of reducing power. It generates 29.91PS at 9000rpm and 24Nm at 7500rpm just like before. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch. In addition, the ECU maps also undergo some modifications.
About the structure, the KTM signature steel-trellis frame is used on the 250 Duke. The bolt-on rear sub-frame is meant to aid the damage repair process in case of an accident. The brake system is operated by a 300mm/230mm disc brake combo. Dual-channel ABS of the KMT 250 Duke is available as standard.
It should be noted that the 250 Duke gets a 13-litre fuel-tank unit which is bigger than the earlier unit used on the previous version.

The prices of the KTM 250 Duke start from Rs 2.16 lakh. Compared to the previous price, the outgoing version is more expensive by Rs 4,000. The price hike of the KTM 250 Duke is in line with other price changes on other models on the KTM Duke series.

Considering the prices, the KTM 250 Duke makes a strong case against the similarly-priced models like Bajaj Dominar 400 and Apache RR 310. With regards to the specifications, the 250 Duke matches the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the upcoming Bajaj Dominar 250.
Upcoming KTM 250 Duke
It is expected that the new KTM 250 Duke will hit the market in the following year. As per the spy images, the 250 Duke gets some comprehensive updates for the chassis, bodywork as well as features. In terms of design, the 250 Duke will get a new front fender along with sharper tank extensions, sleeker LED taillights and new rearview mirrors. The new five-spoke alloy wheels seem to be carried forward from the KTM RC390. Other components like radiator covers, handguards and shorter rear fender are new as well.
