The KTM Duke 390 created a shock wave in the compact sportsbike segment with its mouth-watering introductory price of Rs. 1,80,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

KTM Duke 390 India

Thanks to a killer price, the Austrian two wheeler maker has managed to register over 1,500 bookings since its launch on June 25. Crossing the 1,500 unit mark in less than two months highlights the potential of the burgeoning segment and KTM's brand awareness in India.

Averaging at about 750 units per month, the Duke 390's monthly figures are much higher than its rivals Honda CBR250R and Ninja 250R. Even though described as an introductory offer at the launch, fortunately the price tag of the bike is yet to be inflated.

KTM is yet to start deliveries of the motorcycle in full strength. The bike maker asks customers to wait for about 90 days for delivery. It's to be noted that Bajaj's Chakan plant near Pune which produces the Duke 390 witnessed a prolonged labor strike but the company maintains that deliveries of the sportsbike will happen as promised.

The KTM Duke 390 is powered by a 373cc single-cylinder fuel injected four-stroke engine that develops a healthy 44PS. A 6-speed gearbox lays all that power on the road.

We expect the Duke 390 to take advantage of its initial momentum and move forward since there is nothing to beat it when it comes to value for money.
