KTM to build RC 125, 200 and 300 faired motorcyles in India
KTM has been having a cracker on an innings in the Indian market and it is set to be further enhanced by the introduction of the Duke 390.
The Austrian bike maker will not rest after the Duke 390. KTM had previously announced that a small displacement sportsbike with styling cues from the RC8 superbike and Moto3 racer would be launched in India by early 2014.
In an interview with popular motorcycling journalist Mr. Alan Cathcart who represents Cycle News, Mr. Stefan Pierer, CEO of KTM stated that the company is currently working on three faired motorcycles - RC 125, RC 200 and RC 390. He also added that these motorcycles will be unveiled at the EICMA show in November.
The KTM RC 390 will be the first bike to enter production sometime in early 2014. The RC 125 and the RC 200 will follow in April 2014. All the three motorcycles will share the same platform as their respective naked siblings. Mr. Pierer says that the styling of the bikes will be closer to the KTM's Moto3 racer.
Another interesting revelation is that all these three bikes will be made at Bajaj's faclity at Chakan for the entire world. We suspect that the RC 125 is exclusive for the export markets while the RC 390 and RC 200 would make it to the domestic market.
With naked and faired range of motorcycles, KTM is looking to cover all the types of biking enthusiasts. We say, bring your immensely capable dirt bikes as well!
