IAB Rendering - Land Rover Discovery Sport (Freelander 2 replacement)

Land Rover had announced during the New York Auto Show last week that the Discovery Sport would come to replace the Freelander next year.

Having displayed the Discovery Vision Concept that previews the SUV, in New York last week, Land Rover had a second concept, in a bronze paint work, on view at the Beijing Auto Show on Sunday.

Our rendering artist Shoeb Kalania has revisited the concept giving it production vehicle parts such as wing mirrors, wipers and more realistic wheels.

The Discovery Sport, with Range Rover inspired styling, would come in five- and seven-seat options. The concept vehicle had a raft of technologies such as transparent hood technology, remote control drive, laser referencing and gesture recognition, some of which imaginably would pass on to the production car.

The Discovery Vision Concept was unveiled at the New York Auto Show last week.

The Discovery Sport would source power from fuel-efficient four-cylinder 'Ingenium' engines that are to be manufactured at a new facility in Wolverhampton, UK. A ZF nine-speed transmission, at least on the top-spec variant, would transfer power to all four wheels.

Land Rover could unveil the production Discovery Sport at the Paris Motor Show this October.
