Leaked brochure reveals Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 design and specs

The Indian launch of the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is still a week away, but its brochure has leaked online, revealing its design partially and all of its specifications.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 employs a 249 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled, 4-valve, SOHC engine.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 employs a 249 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled, 4-valve, SOHC engine that makes 26.5 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. In comparison, its closest rival, the Honda CBR250R, features a 249.60 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, DOHC motor that makes 26.5 PS at 8,500 rpm and 22.9 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. The Yamaha Fazer-25, on the other hand, draws 20.9 PS at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm at 6,000 rpm from a 249 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve, SOHC powermill. All three models benefit from a fuel-injection system.

In terms of styling, the motorcycle features a full-fairing design that is accompanied by muscular styling and sporty ergonomics. The fascia includes a full-LED headlight, a windscreen to offer protection against windblasts and fairing mounted rear-view mirrors. The cockpit isn’t visible in the leaked photographs, but it will most definitely feature a fully-digital instrument console that will be similar to the unit of the 155 cc Gixxer range.

Clip-on style handlebar performs the steering duties and offers forward leaning, sportier ergonomics. A 12-litre fuel tank follows the cockpit and features a muscular design with pronounced recesses to lock in the knees while cornering.

The Gixxer SF 250 uses a split-style, step-up seat that enhances its sporty looks. The design of the pillion grab rail neatly merges with the lines of the rear panel to give the upcoming quarter-litre motorcycle clean look from the sides. The tail section includes a LED tail light with the rear blinkers positioned closer to the number plate. The leaked brochure also reveals a Gixxer 155-style twin exhaust with chrome tips and heat shield.

The performance numbers are of the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250's engine are at par with its closest rival - the Honda CBR250R, but quite higher than those of the Yamaha Fazer-25's engine.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 tips the scales at 161 kg (kerb). Disc brakes on both wheels provide the stopping power, while the safety net includes dual-channel ABS as standard. Telescopic, coil sprint, oil-damped front forks and swing-arm type, mono suspension at the back perform the shock absorption tasks. The motorcycle rides on 110/70R-17M/C front and 150/60R-17M/C rear radial tubeless tyres. Expect the motorcycle to arrive in the INR 1.50-1.70 lakh (ex-showroom) price range.
