Spied - Mahindra Mojo caught testing again as launch nears
Mahindra is continuing to test the Mahindra Mojo. The bike was first showcased as a concept in 2010 and a near-production version was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014, where Mahindra's officials had informed us that it was just months away from launch. Later, reports came in that a June launch was scheduled.
When showcased for the first time, the Mojo - with its 300 cc engine - was the first in the segment. Now, however, competition has increased and the presence of players like the KTM Duke 200, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Honda CBR250R have populated the space.
It is also being reported that a 250 cc TVS Apache is on the works, apart from a Triumph 250 and 225 cc entries from the upcoming UM Global Motorcycles.
The Mojo is powered by a single-cylinder 292 cc engine that makes 26 hp and produces peak torque of 25 Nm. This is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The evolution of the Mojo's design has seen it getting features like air deflection panels and the 'ribs' similar to the Mahindra Centuro.
Despite sitting in a higher segment, the KTM Duke 390 has set a new benchmark for the price of a premium motorcycle. The Mahindra Mojo can also be expected to follow suit as a high percentage of the bike would be localized.
