Mahindra Centuro launch

The Mahindra Centuro which is the first bike to be engineered grounds up by Mahindra2Wheelers caters to the premium side of the vast commuter segment. The bike targets tech savvy customers with its "Wow" features.

The Centuro is powered by a 110cc MCI-5 (Mirco Chip Ignited - 5 Curve) four stroke air cooled engine which produces 8bhp and 8 Nm of torque. A four speed gear box with all-up shift pattern transmits power. The power train is the same one as the Pantero but Mahindra says that the engine mapping has been modified for the Centuro. As a result the motorcycle delivers a better ARAI certified mileage of 85.4 kpl.

The suspension setup is telescopic front forks and 5-step adjustable rear coil springs. The bike derives its braking power from front and rear drum brakes.

The bike comes with a set of first-in-class features like remote key, anti-theft alarm, engine immobilizer, Guide-Me-Home lamps, Find-Me lamps and Distance To Empty meter (works when the bike starts using the reserve fuel). Other noteworthy features include LED pilot lamps and taillamp, digital instrument panel (with analog tachometer) and alloy fuel filler cap.

Mahindra Centuro National launch

The bike will be available in four variants but only the top end variant will be on sale initially. The colors available are red and black.

While the Mahindra Pantero competes with the segment king Hero Splendor, the Centuro is aimed squarely at Honda Dream Yuga, Bajaj Discover 100T and Hero Passion Pro.

The Centuro relies of its rich equipment to make inroads into the fiercely competitive commuter segment. The 5 year built-in warranty will also go a long way.
