Mahindra 2 Wheelers to launch the Centuro in Q2 of this fiscal

Mahindra 2 Wheelers re-entered the motorcycle segment with the launch of its Pantero 110cc commuter bike earlier this year.

The Mahindra Centuro packs in come segment first features.

The Pantero is basically a re-engineered Stalio, the firm's first motorcycle which flopped badly. Along with the Pantero, the company had also unveiled another 110cc commuter bike, the Centuro.

The Mahindra Centuro is expected to be positioned in the upper end of the commuter segment. Business Standard reports that the motorcycle will be launched in the second quarter of the current financial year.

While the Pantero is targeted at the value conscious customers, the Centuro will be directed towards tech savvy customers who are willing to pay some kind of a premium for features.

Even though the Pantero and Centuro are mechanically identical, the motorcycles look sufficiently different from each other. The Centuro has a conventional bikini fairing and emerges as a better looking of the two.

The commuter motorcycle comes with some interesting first-in-class features like remote control, engine immobilizer, Guide-Me-Home and Find-Me lights. Other noteworthy features include LED pilot and tail lamps and digital instrument console.

Powering the bike is a 107cc single cylinder engine which develops 8.5 bhp and 8.5 Nm of torque. The engine is bolted to a 4-speed gearbox.

Mr. Dharmendra Mishra, Vice president (sales and customer care), Mahindra 2 Wheelers hinted that a 150cc bike is in the works besides the flagship Mojo 300. He said: "Whether it is 150cc or 300cc, our intent is to have a proper portfolio to be a player of substance or relevance in the two-wheeler market. We will be there at the right time."
