SUV-styled hatchback to get a facelift less than two years after the launch.

As reported last month, the Mahindra KUV100 is not meeting sales targets, and the company has planned regular upgrades and refreshes to give it traction. In the latest, Mr Rajan Wadhera, Executive VP, R&D and Global Product Development, Mahindra (Automotive Sector), has announced that the Mahindra KUV100 will get a refresh this year.

In April, only 2,141 units of the KUV100 were sold, which marked over 50% drop in YoY sales (April 2016: 5,097 units).

The development is quite surprising, as the Mahindra KUV100 went on sale in January 2016. The SUV-styled hatchback's proportions and styling are a let down for prospective buyers and Mahindra is working on a facelift that will bring a cleaner design and a redone tailgate, reports Autocar India. Interior changes, if planned, are not known at the moment.

The update should hopefully give a boost to the sales. In April, only 2,141 units of the car were sold, which marked over 50% drop in YoY sales (April 2016: 5,097 units).

Along with the new Mahindra KUV100, Mahindra is working on a facelift for the Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra XUV500 to gain its grip back in the utility vehicle segment, it was reported. The facelifted Mahindra Scorpio was spied testing for the first time earlier this week hiding a refreshed front and rear. The new Scorpio may get a more appealing interior with new upholstery and colour combination, in addition to an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system more connectivity features. The new model will get power from a more powerful, 140 hp 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine.

The new Mahindra KUV100 will have a cleaner design and a redone tailgate.

The Mahindra XUV500 is set to receive a second facelift after the one in 2015. Our speculation is that this update could arrive in the MY2018 model. While visual changes are unknown as yet, a report says that Mahindra will increase the 2.2-litre mHawk140 diesel engine's maximum power output from 140 hp to 170 hp.
