Mahindra to ramp up KUV100 production - Report
Exports to RHD markets will shortly commence.
It seems like the crossover-styling of the Mahindra KUV100 has worked perfectly for Mahindra. Speaking to Economic Times, Pravin Shah, President and CEO, Mahindra (Automotive), said that the company has received over 110,000 inquires for the KUV100 since launch and three months of production is already booked. He said that 450-500 units are being booked every day.
According to the report, the previous plan was to make around 5,500 units a month. However, a previous report said that the company aimed to sell 80,000-90,000 units annually. In response to the overwhelming demand, the company now plans to scale up the production to 8,500 units per month over the next few months. Very soon, once the procedures and regulatory clearances are dealt with, exports to Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and South Africa will commence.

The Mahindra KUV100 is the company's second monocoque product currently on sale along with the Mahindra XUV500. Targeted at the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Maruti Swift, the Mahindra KUV100 is available with two mFalcon engines: a 1.2-litre G80 petrol unit that develops 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque and a 1.2-litre D75 diesel unit that develops 77 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. 5-speed manual transmission is standard for both engines. The ARAI-certified fuel economy figure of the car is 18.15 km/l (petrol)/25.32 km/l (diesel).
