Spied - Mahindra Maxximo Minivan EV caught testing

Our avid reader Mr. S.R.Vishnuvardhan has spotted the fully electric Mahindra Maxximo Minivan being tested in Bangalore.

The test mule was painted in green and the rear carries a bold 'Electric' monicker. The test mule also had alloy wheels suggesting that it may be used for a public display anytime soon.

The badge reads 'Maxximo powered by Reva'. This can only mean that the Minivan was engineered by Mahindra-Reva in Bengaluru.

The specifications of the electric powertrain is not yet to be revealed. There is no change in the styling of the vehicle and the only visual change is the missing tailpipe.

Mahindra had showcased the electric version of Maxximo load carrier at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo and the Verito EV was brought to the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo and an electric compact cab based on the Gio was spied last October. These vehicles, except for the Maxximo load carrier, were powered by Reva's hardware.

Reva's products having clocked more number of electric miles on road than any other electric car manufacturer in the world and their experience in electric powertrains is sure to give Mahindra a clear advantage in zero emission technologies.

Sources tell IndianAutosBlog.com that Mahindra is reportedly working on the hybrid version of the XUV500 which will be benefited by the Reva's know-how of electric motors.

However, whether India is ready to embrace the electric propulsion technology is yet to be seen.
