Mahindra Mojo Electric variant spied in India for the first time

Mahindra Two Wheelers is reportedly developing the Mahindra Mojo Electric motorcycle for the Indian market as the bike was spied for the first time in India, courtesy of a Cartoq reader.

The Mahindra Mojo Electric motorcycle features a final belt drive. The bike loses out on the gear lever, while the engine area is covered.

The custom Mahindra Mojo Electric motorcycle was spotted outside a component supplier's factory in Bangalore alongside a couple of other electric scooters. According to the spy media, the Mojo Electric features final belt drive, while the motorcycle is devoid of an exhaust system and gear lever. Furthermore, the engine area is concealed using a cowl and belly cover.

Interestingly though, the Mahindra Mojo Electric gets a clutch lever on the conventional side of the handlebar. However, we can see the clutch cable dangling on the right side of the front fork, which substantiates the presence of an electric powertrain. Moreover, a small wire (probably connected to some sort of testing device) can be seen running down into the electric powertrain.

That said, not much is known about the powertrain on the Mahindra Mojo Electric. The test mule uses the same chassis, USD front forks, bodywork, wheels, other mechanicals and even the Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 tires from the stock bike.

As fascinating as it seems, consumers would have many questions at this time. What will be riding range of the motorcycle? What will be the cost of the bike and the battery maintenance expenses? How will be the performance of the bike in varied riding conditions?

The company recently introduced a lower-spec Mahindra Mojo UT 300 variant that features a carburetor, conventional telescopic forks, a single exhaust system and MRF Nylogrip rubber at front and back. As compared to the Mojo XT 300, the UT 300 produces lower power figures from the carburetted engine.

The Mahindra Mojo UT300 is a barebones variant with a single exhaust, telescopic forks, and MRF Nylogrip tires.

Powering the Mahindra Mojo is a 295 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine with either fuel injection or a carburetor setup. The FI engine on the Mojo XT 300 produces 27 bhp of maximum power and 30 Nm of peak torque, while the carburetted engine on the Mojo UT 300 pumps out 23 bhp of power and 25.2 Nm of peak torque. The engine on both the variants features a 6-speed gearbox.
