To launch by the end of June.
After inordinate delays, the Mahindra Mojo sports tourer may finally reach showrooms in June. Pilot production of the bike has started at the company’s Pithampur facility in Madhya Pradesh, says a new report on Indian Cars Bikes.
First showcased publicly as a concept at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo, the Mojo has been in the embryo for four years, and the production model was showcased at last year’s Auto Expo. Since then, the sports bike continues to test on Indian roads and test tracks, and was spotted carrying more design changes.
The revised bike features a new fuel tank and tank extensions, sharp radiator shrouds, a stubby exhaust canister and a compact taillight and LED daytime running lights above twin headlamps. The bike is powered by a 296 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine generating 26.6 bhp and 25 Nm of max torque. A marginal bump in max power by 1 bhp is likely possible for the showroom-ready version, reports ICB. It is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.
The Mojo is now redesigned for an upright riding position and a bucketed feel for the rider, in the view of providing comfortable long-distance journeys. It uses telescopic fork suspension system in front and a mono-shock at rear, and the wheels come shod with high-end Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres.
Rivals: KTM Duke 200, Honda CBR250R
Expected Price Range: Around INR 1.5 lakhs, ex-showroom
Launch Date: June 2015 (speculated)
