Powered by newly-developed petrol and diesel engines.

Seen here for the first time is the production-ready interior of the Mahindra S101 (codename). Expected to launch this later this year, Mahindra seems to be putting the final touches on its all new small car, which will have the looks of a crossover, yet will be priced and positioned like a B-segment hatchback.

The S101 is reported to offer generous interior space despite its compact dimensions.

Designers have cleverly used the center console to mount the gearlever, which on this test mule is an automated manual transmission (AMT). However, a manual transmission will also be on offer. Using a longitudinal layout, the console begins with a music system, and features three rotary knobs for the HVAC.

The steering wheel seems to be a 4-spoke unit, and should be equipped with controls for the music system. An instrument binnacle with a silver insert is seen up front.

The S101, as reported earlier, will be based on an all-new platform. It will be the second monocoque platform for Mahindra, the first being the XUV500. The small car will be powered by newly-developed petrol and diesel engines, which are reported to be three-cylinder units with 1.2-liter displacement.

The S101 is Mahindra's second monocoque platform and product.
