Mahindra S101 spotted with production-spec tail-lamps - Spied

Rides on a monocoque chassis.

Along with the TUV300, Mahindra is also working on an all new sub-4m product internally codenamed as the Mahindra S101. Compared to previous spyshots, it sports less camouflage and production-spec elements, giving us an idea of its exterior design.

Characteristic features include a curvy roofline, tight overhangs, short wheelbase, tiny wheels, high ground clearance.

Judging by the images, it appears to be a compact hatchback crossover nearly similar to the Renault Kwid. Characteristic features include a curvy roofline, tight overhangs, short wheelbase, tiny wheels, high ground clearance, heavily styled body work and a high hip-point. The front end gets Mahindra's tooth grille with chrome inserts flanked by sleek headlamps.

The S101 will be the second product from Mahindra to ride on a new monocoque chassis, after the XUV500. Under the hood, it will pack a new range petrol and diesel engines displacing 1.2-liters from three-cylinder blocks, and will be the smallest engine offered by the company. Developed in association with Ssangyong, the engines are a part of a new family, and will be paired with manual and AMT transmissions.

Here's a better look at the Mahindra S101's height and width, when compared to the Maruti Swift next to it.
