The Mahindra XUV300, even though designed keeping India in mind, is a global product. With a launch planned in many countries and regions around the world, it is likely to significantly grow Mahindra's exports and maybe even open doors to new markets.

The Mahindra XUV300 is available with a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine (110 BHP/200 Nm) and a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine (115 BHP/300 Nm).

Rajan Wadhera, President, Mahindra & Mahindra, has said that the company will export the XUV300 to Europe, South America, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Australia and New Zealand. In a related development, Dr. Pawan Goenka, had told analysts last year that it "will launch in at least one (export) market immediately."

The one export market Dr. Goenka was referring to was likely South Africa, which is a major overseas destination for the company with 60 dealerships. Also, the fact that SsangYong doesn’t sell the Tivoli there means an opportunity for M&M to offer a sophisticated product to challenge the Renault Captur, Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008. The Mahindra TUV300 cannot take on these plush rivals. Neighbouring markets like Nepal and Sri Lanka too could get the new sub-compact SUV in the coming months, while the launch in Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand may take a little longer.

The Mahindra S201 is currently available with only a 6-speed manual transmission, but an AMT option will follow soon.

In India, the Mahindra XUV300 competes with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. Its prices range from INR 7.90-11.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). Engine options include a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol unit (110 BHP/200 Nm) and a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel unit (115 BHP/300 Nm). A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, but an AMT option will become available soon. A pure electric variant (codename: Mahindra S210) is in the making and it will go on sale here in the second half of 2020.
