M&M has confirmed that it will reveal the name of its next SUV on 19 December. The company had planned to announce the new brand on 1 December, but the event was called off due to an unspecified reason. The new model is slated to launch in January 2019 and will rival well-established models like the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport.

IAB's rendition of the Mahindra S201 captures every detail observed from spy media.

The front-end will be characterised with vertical grille slats, sleek headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, and a bumper with a rectangular air dam. Instead of the vertically stacked tail lamps of the Ssangyong Tivoli, its donor, the Mahindra will feature horizontally-positioned units. Furthermore, the tailgate will be entirely new and carry the registration plate. The fully-loaded version will feature a roof spoiler.

Spy images have revealed that the interior will look much like that of the Tivoli, with the disparity in colour scheme and the material grade. The equipment list will include a range of premium features, such as panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, four-wheel disc brakes, seven airbags and ESP.

The 'My Tivoli' personalisation available in the UK helps the owners of the Ssangyong Tivoli personalise their car using various styling packs and two-tone colour options. We expect similar kits to be made available to the buyers of the Mahindra S201.

We'll find out on 19 December if the S201 is indeed the Mahindra 'Inferno'.

What could be the Mahindra 'Inferno' will go on sale with two turbocharged engine options - 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel. The former can deliver up to 135.96 PS, while the oil-burner, which comes from the Mahindra Marazzo, produces 121 hp and 300 Nm. The sub-4-metre offering will reportedly receive an electric powertrain in 2020.
