The launch of Mahindra Scorpio facelift will take place on November 14, 2017, the company has confirmed. Updates to the SUV will include cosmetic changes as well as additions to the features list. An increment in power output has also been confirmed.

The current model was launched in September 2014. The next generation Scorpio (Mahindra Z101) is expected to arrive in 2020.

In terms of appearance, spy pictures reveal that the new model Mahindra Scorpio will feature a revised nose section with a new 'toothed' grille design and circular fog lamp units. Past sightings point towards the introduction of new 5-spoke alloy wheels and red tinted tail lamp glass. New colour options may be introduced.

The cabin is expected to remain largely the same save for new seat upholstery and maybe a new colour scheme. In terms of features, the Mahindra Scorpio is likely to gain a 7-inch touchscreen with Connected Apps and EcoSense support along with the addition of Android Auto, but at a later stage.

The 2.2 LmHawk diesel engine that powers the Scorpio will have a higher power and torque output as compared to the current figures. It will produce a peak power of 140 hp @ 3,750 rpm while the peak torque output will go up to 330 Nm. The reintroduction of automatic variants with an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter is expected.

The 7-inch touchscreen from the XUV500 is expected to find its way to the centre console of the Scorpio facelift.

We are not expecting any major change in the prices of the Mahindra Scorpio. The SUV will continue to retail in the INR 10-15 lakh price bracket. A new mid-level S7 trim will be offered.
