Report - Mahindra Scorpio facelift still a year away from launch

The first images of a camouflaged Mahindra Scorpio were shown to you yesterday. Here is another image of the Scorpio facelift courtesy of Autocar India.

The Scorpio facelift will get a redesigned front fascia which includes a new bumper, redesigned headlights and a new hood. The rear of the car was also camouflaged lending us to believe that a new tailgate would be seen on the refreshed model. There seems to be no changes to the side profile of the car, though the alloys are new.

However, we notice that Mahindra has camouflaged certain interior bits of this test mule. It looks like Mahindra is planning to revamp the interiors and hopefully use better plastics for making them. We would certainly expect to see an LCD screen being added to the features list (like that of the Mahindra XUV500), given that the Scorpio is one of the better equipped cars in its class.

While the engine would continue unchanged, the 6-speed auto box would no longer be available on the Scorpio refresh, reports Autocar India.

It seems that the refreshed Scorpio has been codenamed 'W105', and that a launch date is quite far away. Autocar estimates the launch to happen in late 2014, which is a good 1 year away! Given that the Scorpio manages good sales numbers, Mahindra seems to be confident to extend the current model's life before introducing a facelift. For the first 7 months of 2013, the Scorpio sold an average of 4,216 units a month.
