Mahindra XUV300 AMT has been spotted on various occasions previously and it was only a few days back that the SUV was spied amid its TVC shoot which hinted at its imminent launch. Now an Autocar India story says that the XUV300 diesel-AMT will be launched in the third week of June.

Currently, the Mahindra XUV300 only features a 6-speed manual gearbox. *Mahindra XUV300 AMT spotted during TVC shoot*

In the current configuration, the XUV300 is available with two engine options. The first is a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 81 kW (110PS) at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 2,000-3,500 rpm, and the second is a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 85.5 kW (115PS) at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual as standard. But with the addition of the new diesel-AMT combination, XUV300 will have an upper-hand over all its segment rivals which do not have this feature.

Previous reports suggest that a Magnetti Marelli-sourced automated manual transmission will be doing duties on the XUV300 AMT. Also it was said that this gearbox will also be added to the Marazzo in the later stage. The 6-speed automated manual transmission will only serve as a temporary remedy until the company introduces the expensive 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission along with the BS-VI upgrade in 2020.

In terms of exterior features, the XUV300 comes with projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED tail lights and dual-tone roof rails. Electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are some highlights of its interiors. It also comes with 7 airbags, four disc brakes, front parking sensors and ESP with Roll-over Mitigation, as its main safety features.

Though it isn't confirmed yet, but it is expected that all variants upward of the mid-spec Mahindra XUV300 W6 will get the AMT. When launched, it would be safe to assume that XUV300 diesel-AMT may cost around INR 50,000 in addition to the respective diesel-manual variants. The Mahindra XUV300 MT is currently priced at INR 7,90,000* and extend up to INR 11,99,000*.
