Expected to be more fuel efficient than the Quanto.

The Mahindra TUV300 will have its market introduction today, about 6 weeks after Mahindra released the first teaser sketches and confirmed its name.

The TUV300 will be powered by an 80 bhp 1.5-liter engine.

Mahindra has also confirmed a new mHawk 80 diesel engine for the compact SUV, which is expected to be a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine developing 80 bhp and 230 Nm of torque, paired to 5-speed manual and automated manual transmissions. At the time of the launch, the TUV300 will be a 2WD (rear-wheel drive) model only, though Mahindra confirmed a 4WD drivetrain is possible on this platform.

Speaking of the platform, the TUV300 rides on a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis, which is reported to be a shortened version of the new Scorpio's platform. Ducking under the 4 meter length, the TUV300 will sport a 5+2 seating layout, with side-facing seats at the rear.

The TUV300 is reported to offer optional airbags even on the base variant.

With an exterior design inspired by a Battle Tank, the interior of the TUV300, as seen in spyshots, reveals a dual-tone black-and-beige dashboard with a four-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 2-DIN music system, power window controls near the hand-brake, and dual front airbags. According to a report, the TUV300 will offer optional airbags on even the base variant.

The TUV300 will also see Mahindra's Micro Hybrid technology (Start-Stop system), and an Eco mode for better fuel efficiency.
