Update - MotorBeam reader Srinath Kumar has shared spy shots of the Mahindra TUV300 Plus that reveal more details. The headlamps have LED DRLs, and the dashboard, centre console and steering wheel look the same as in the TUV300. As per the information sheet on the back glass, the test mule is void of ABS. Also, this sheet almost clearly reads "1.9L mHawk BS4" engine.

M&M is working on an extended version of the Mahindra TUV300. This version, referred to as the Mahindra TUV500 and even Mahindra TUV300 XL by the web, was recently spied while out on test, courtesy Team-BHP.

The Mahindra TUV500 will have front-facing seats third-row seats.

One of the latest spy shots shows the lengthened roof of the car and the large rear quarter glass area. The other spy photo gives a glimpse of the interior and indicates that the instrument panel and side air vents have the same design as in the TUV300. While the TUV300 has jump seats behind the second-row bench, the TUV500 will have front-facing seats.

The Mahindra TUV300 measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width and 1,839 mm in height. Its wheelbase stands at 2,680 mm. With length exceeding four metres, Mahindra will offer the TUV500 with a bigger engine. Reports say that the Scorpio's 120 bhp 2.2-litre mHawk four-cylinder diesel engine will serve on the TUV500. Transmission choices may include 5-speed manual and the XUV500's Aisin 6-speed automatic. A four-wheel drive system is unlikely.

Another large utility vehicle from Mahindra this year is three-row MPV codenamed Mahindra U321/S321. While the TUV500 fits the profile of the budget family SUV and fleet customer, the U321 has the looks, interior and the tech to draw personal car buyers to the showroom.
