Mahindra has started accepting pre-orders for the XUV300 in South Africa and will launch it there on the 22nd of this month. The company has a network of close to 60 dealers in the country. Like in India, the Mahindra XUV300 doesn’t face a threat from the SsangYong Tivoli, from which it has been derived, in its first export market. It will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mazda CX-3 and Renault Captur there.

Mahindra is offering the XUV300 in South Africa with both the engines - 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The former is a turbocharged three-cylinder unit that develops a maximum power of 81 kW (110 bhp) at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 2,000-3,500 rpm. The latter churns out a maximum power of 85.8 kW (115 bhp) at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm of peak torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, and so is FWD drivetrain layout.

LED DRLs, LED tail lights, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control, 4-wheel disc brakes, 7 airbags, front parking sensors and Hill Start Assist are the features confirmed for the South African-spec Mahindra XUV300 so far.
