7 Maruti cars launching between September 2016 to December 2017 - Report
According to a report from the Economic Times, Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, will have at least 7 product launches from now until end of 2017. Following is the list of new Maruti models coming our way -
1. Maruti Ignis
Perhaps the most awaited launch this year, the Maruti Ignis is expected this festive season and will roll out of the company's premium NEXA outlets. Expected to be powered by 1.2-liter petrol and 1.3-liter diesel engines, the Ignis is also anticipated to get the AMT (AGS) technology.
2. Maruti Baleno RS
The Maruti Baleno RS too is expected to launch by this year-end. The Baleno RS will introduce the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet engine in the Indian market, and is expected to have a power output in the region of 110 PS. The Baleno RS is also expected to be more fuel efficient compared to the 1.2-liter K-Series variant.
3. 2017 Maruti Swift
The 2017 Maruti Swift will have its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017, followed by an Indian launch towards the middle of the year. The new Swift, a leaked image has shown, introduces a new interior theme and layout which will be carried on other Maruti models as well.
4. 2018 Maruti Dzire
The next-gen Maruti Dzire, which is expected towards the fag-end of 2017, will further up the ante when it goes on sale. Sporting fuel efficient powertrains, a feature-packed interior and a capacious boot, the compact sedan will continue giving its rivals a run for their money.
5. Maruti S-Cross facelift
The S-Cross facelift, which made its European debut last month, will launch in India next year. Aside from the cosmetic changes, Maruti would also introduce a 1.5-liter petrol variant of the S-Cross paired to an automatic transmission, given the uptrend in demand for petrol-powered cars.
6. New Maruti Wagon R
Maruti's tall-boy entry-level hatchback is expected to receive a slew of changes which could also extend to structural changes, so as to prepare the car for the future crash test norms.
7. New Maruti Eeco
Maruti's entry-level people-mover will also be upgraded for the future crash test norms. At present, the Eeco doesn't even offer power steering, let alone features such as ABS or dual airbags.
