Maruti Alto 800 facelift fully revealed ahead of launch

Launch expected this month.

Ahead of its possible launch this month, the first images of the Maruti Alto 800 facelift have been posted on GaadiWaadi. Judging by the spyshots, it appears that Maruti is ready to ship the Alto 800 facelift to dealers in the coming days.

The Maruti Alto 800 facelift will continue to be powered by its 0.8L petrol engine.

Designers have given the entry-level car redesigned headlights with yellow lens for the turn indicators, a smaller grille and new front bumper with a trapezoidal airdam and provision for foglights. A spyshot of the rear shows no changes though.

According to the report, Maruti will use a similar interior layout as the Maruti Alto K10 on the 800 facelift. On the more powerful Alto K10, this dashboard features a dual-tone theme, a 2-DIN integrated music system with AUX-in and a new instrument cluster.

An AMT could be offered on the Alto 800 in due time.

What will not change is the three-cylinder 796 cc petrol engine which is capable of 48 PS and 69 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Alto 800 facelift will also continue to be offered with a CNG option. However, it remains to be seen if Maruti equips the small car with its AMT (automated manual transmission).

A facelift for the Alto 800 comes at a time when the Renault Kwid has found great acceptance among buyers for its competitive pricing and crossover-esque design, and Datsun is gearing up to launch the redi-GO early next month.
