India-made Maruti Baleno scores 3/5 in Euro NCAP crash test
Fitted with ABS and dual airbags as standard across the range.
The India-made Maruti Baleno has scored 3/5 in Euro NCAP crash tests, which is a decent score considering the fact that it only weighs under 900 kg (kerb weight). Note that the Euro-spec Suzuki Baleno which was tested offers six airbags, while the local-spec Baleno has only dual airbags as standard.

The organization also tested another variant of the Baleno fitted with the Radar Brake Support (with automatic emergency braking) as part of their new norms, and it scored an overall of 4/5 in their crash tests. Given the ban on advanced radar-based features in India, the Radar Brake Support is not offered in the Maruti Baleno.
The standard variant of the Suzuki Baleno secured a satisfactory 80 percent for adult protection, citing that it offers good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger of all sizes in a frontal offset collision, although chest protection is only adequate in a full frontal impact.

As for side impact, the Baleno also offers good protection. However, testers note that the side curtain airbags did not deploy in the right manner in a side pole test, thus affecting the head protection rating.
