10k units of Maruti Baleno to be made at Suzuki's Gujarat plant this fiscal - Report

The Gujarat plant will begin functioning in Feb 2017.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) Chairman Mr RC Bhargava has disclosed to ET Auto that Maruti will receive about 10,000 units of the Maruti Baleno from Suzuki's Gujarat plant this financial year.

Up until last month, the Maruti Baleno had a waiting period of 6 months despite 3 five-digit price hikes since its launch last year.

Mr Bhargava said:

The whole project (Gujarat) is on schedule. We will be selling cars from made in Gujarat from February. That remains, there is no change in that. During this financial year about 10,000 cars from Gujarat will be produced and delivered to us for sale.

This is likely to help reduce the waiting period for new customers and allow Maruti to push more volumes into the market. As stated by Mr Bhargava, the cars from Gujarat will reach Maruti in February. It also allows Suzuki to increase export volumes to markets where the Baleno customer is facing a similar situation.

The Gujarat plant will help reduce the waiting period for new customers and allow Maruti to push more volumes into the export market.
