Maruti Baleno launches today, starts arriving at showrooms - IAB Report
ABS, EBD and dual front airbags are standard across the range.
Maruti Suzuki will launch their premium hatchback, Baleno, today, which will rival products like the VW Polo, Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20. Ahead of its launch, Maruti's NEXA dealerships have already started receiving display and demo units.
The Baleno will be offered with a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine paired to a CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine is good for 84.3 PS of power, 115 Nm of torque, and returns 21.4 km/l. The 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine develops 75 PS, 190 Nm of torque and claims 27.39 km/l. The diesel variant is solely available with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Baleno will be offered in trims of Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha, with the Delta variant being available with the CVT gearbox. All variants will be offered with ABS, EBD and dual front airbags as standard though.
Apart from the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki will also manufacture and export the Baleno for 100 global markets. Exports of the Baleno are set to commence in early-2016, Mr. R S Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki, told Indian Autos Blog. For certain export markets, the Baleno will be sold with the all-new Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine developing 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque.
