Launch of Maruti Baleno RS, Maruti Ignis postponed - Report

Reason being the large backlog of orders for the Maruti Baleno and Vitara Brezza.

Following the postponement of the Maruti Ignis's market launch, Autocar Professional reports that Maruti will also push back the arrival of the Baleno RS to early-2017.

The Maruti Ignis is reported to feature manual and automatic transmissions.

The reason is identical to the Ignis's delay - Maruti has a large backlog of orders for the Baleno and Vitara Brezza that will need to be fulfilled, after which they can accommodate the Ignis and Baleno RS in the production capacity. The Maruti Ignis was reportedly scheduled for a launch this month, but is now pushed back to October-November 2016. The Baleno RS is expected to roll out in January 2017.

With waiting periods for the Baleno and Vitara Brezza ranging between 6-9 months for prospective customers, Maruti wouldn't be able to maintain top sales figures of the two models if their production was affected by the introduction of new models, as both the Manesar and Gurgaon plants are running at full capacity.

Reports suggest that the Baleno production at Manesar will increase to 20,000 units per month by January 2017, of which 8,000 units will constitute of the Baleno RS.
